Natural Customization

There is this extreme simplicity in the rules that nature follows – the Fibonacci sequence. And yet the results are so complex. There is this randomness factor hidden somewhere. And this is what attracts us. It makes each organism recognizable enough by following the general rules, yet unique enough to separate one from another.
I dare to believe there is same kind of uniqueness we would appreciate in man-made objects. We tend to customize our car, house, even a notebook or a laptop cover. Is there a way to mass produce objects that slightly vary between themselves? Is this just a domain of artisans? Can parametric design be of any help? Maybe we should simply curb our egos and deal with possibility of showing up in the same brand new dress by our favorite designer on our least favorite person at the party…
