Gymlacium

The Museum Lab – new addition to the museum in the former Carnegie Library, decided to keep the 130 years old cast iron structure of the stacks. Between the 3 storey existing structure various rope lace elements are woven and knotted (all by hand!) for the visitors to climb, explore and chill in. The structural patterns used are traditional  bobbin lace ones, that were made in the studio, while the connecting ropes were installed on site through months of knotting and improvising, even during the first covid lockdown, when Manca was alone in the entire museum bringing the rope landscape to life.
