Grass covers nearly 40% of Earth’s ice‑free land, yet it is often overlooked and treated as a mere backdrop. Not here. Each grass element—five times its natural size and crafted from natural fiber ropes commonly used in agriculture—represents a unique specimen collected during a road trip through Oregon, showcasing just a fraction of the astounding diversity within the grass family. Some seeds and flowers are created from pieces of reclaimed wood and ropes naturally dyed with wine and spices.
The backdrop features a dotted silhouette of Mount Hood made from small inserts of reclaimed Oregon wood.
This installation celebrates grass as a vital element of our ecosystem, reimagining it not as just a natural resource but as a symbol of sustainability and interconnectedness.
